The Fresh Breath Centre

Bad breath (Halitosis) is experienced by most people at some time.

It may simply be “morning breath” but can be a persistent chronic condition which affects a person’s everyday life and confidence.

It is almost always caused initially by a build up of excess bacteria in the mouth which gives off smelly gases often due to poor hygiene, badly fitting crowns or fillings and food trapping. Contrary to popular belief the following do not usually contribute towards the problem of halitosis: Constipation, tonsils, gastro-intestinal problems and food.

Persistent problems with bad breath (Halitosis) are often associated with gum disease (also known as gingivitis) as people who suffer from gum disease have four times the chance of suffering from bad breath or halitosis. Gum disease may also lead to receding gums and also loss of teeth.

About Us

At The Fresh Breath Centre we know how difficult it is to talk about bad breath and understand the

significant effect it can have on people’s lives. We are here to help you and provided the recommended treatment and advice is followed then halitosis is highly treatable.

The centre is an advanced facility which can clinically measure, diagnose and treat bad breath- here you'll find staff who are experts in their field, caring and sympathetic to the fact that you may be feeling embarrassed, nervous or anxious. We're here to provide a service to treat bad breath (halitosis), allay your fears, give you confidence, not sell products, and are justifiably proud of our 98% success rate over the last 21 years.

The Fresh Breath Centre comprises a team of dental experts, hygienists and supporting staff, as well as state-of-the-art technology including equipment capable of showing patients their own bacteria and oral health issues via a microscope on screen. This means that we can clearly explain the cause of specific problems, make diagnoses and illustrate treatment and post-work improvements. It is also possible for patients to take pictures of the diagnosis and before/after photos home with them.

Our team of dentists and hygienists are highly experienced and training continues regularly to ensure that all aspects of dental care and hygiene are up to the minute and readily available.

A fresh breath consultation consists of a comprehensive examination of teeth and all soft tissues in the mouth. We also take X-rays and carry out various tests for our assessment. This includes taking a sample of bacteria which is analysed straight away under the microscope to help with the diagnosis.

What To Expect

The Fresh Breath Centre has a welcoming and caring atmosphere and is fully equipped with the latest equipment and technology.

On your arrival your breath will be tested using a halimeter (a specialist piece of equipment to detect some of the gases which indicate whether you have bad breath or not) along with many other painless tests.

Once the diagnosis has been completed, we'll provide advice on the best course of action and advise you on how to best prevent the halitosis (Bad Breath) from recurring ever again. Normally patients are treated 4 to 6 times over a 3 month period.

Following your treatment we will advise how frequently you will need follow-up maintenance appointments, which is roughly every 3 – 6 months.

Our team of professionals are totally committed to what they do and complete confidentiality is guaranteed at all times. They are there to help and ensure that your experience leaves you feeling excited and confident about the prospect of having fresh breath for the rest of your life!

Halitosis isn’t necessarily the easiest topic to raise with a sufferer, so just think about this…if you’re afraid to tell a friend or colleague about their breath then perhaps you too suffer and people are afraid to tell you?

We want our patients to leave the practice feeling that they have received special attention and that every care has been taken in their diagnosis and treatment.

If you suspect you are suffering from either bad breath or Halitosis, get in touch with us to see how we can help you.
